WHO WE ARE
Pastime Management Group is a purpose-based management and consulting firm that works to achieve business innovation in the culture of sport. Pastime and its strategic partners make up a multidisciplinary team of experienced professionals who have contributed to the design and development of many standard-setting marketing initiatives in social science related fields. We believe that strong emotional and physical ties to the world of sports and recreation helps people live more fruitful lives. The work Pastime does is not only aimed at growing our partners' business portfolios, but to introduce more people to the benefits of sports, both as a spectator and participant.

The Pastime Group is led by Grant E.Christensen, a sports business professional whose cause-related sports marketing initiatives have inspired promotions throughout Major League Baseball, the NBA, and NCAA athletics. Prior to being named Pastime's president on June 1, 2007, his career included eight years in the Oakland A's marketing department. During that time, the team increased their overall attendance by 79%, set each of their top ten single-game attendance marks, and won baseball's Organization of he Year award three times. In 2004, the club's advertising campaign was recognized by the National Sports Forum as the “Best Overall Campaign" in professional sports. When he took over the team's sales department in 2002, Grant became the youngest such department head in Major League Baseball. The A's would go on to achieve franchise sales records in each of his three years leading the department. Grant has also worked in Minor League Baseball with the Stockton Ports where the club set their all-time attendance record while he oversaw its business affairs, including sales, marketing, public relations, merchandise and broadcasting.

Grant has consulted on team acquisitions and venue development, and has been a guest lecturer to students from the University of the Pacific, University of San Francisco, and his alma mater, the University of California at Davis. He has also served on the corporate board of the Mount Diablo Region YMCA and the Contra Costa County Education Council.

WHAT WE DO
Pastime designs and manages business campaigns for social science based organizations. Pastime uses consumer-driven testimony and research to analyze and design new or renewed promotions, products and services that help these organizations grow their revenues. Pastime also works with interscholastic and intercollegiate athletic departments to help them run more efficient and profitable programs. In addition, Pastime's Executive Development division helps educate and mentor current and future sports business professionals while promoting better sports business practices.
